Case Study3 min read

A 1930s residential college, wired for the next generation of learning.

St Georges College needed a full technology refresh across a heritage campus of separate buildings and wings. cimply ran new fibre to every building, refreshed the equipment to the latest standard and now keeps 2,000 devices online for study, streaming and gaming alike.

  • A custom support app, so residents can reach help without leaving their room

Before and after

Where they were. Where they are now.

The brief was ambitious for the building it lived in. One fast, reliable network across a heritage campus of separate buildings and wings, good enough for study by day and streaming and gaming by night.

Before:

A campus of separate 1930s buildings, each an island, with connectivity that struggled to reach every wing. Equipment past its prime and a network that was never built for hundreds of residents online at once.

After:

New fibre run to every building and wing, a full equipment refresh to the latest standard and gigabit Internet across the whole college. 2,000 devices now sit on one network built for study, 4K streaming and online gaming, with a custom app for resident support.

The Invisible Win

The best campus network is the one residents never think about.

For a resident, good technology is invisible. A video call connects, a 4K stream holds and a game runs without lag, from any room in any wing. The real work is everything underneath, the fibre, the refreshed equipment and the monitoring that keeps it all quietly running.

  • One network that behaves the same in every building and wing
  • Support a resident can reach from a custom app, not a queue
  • Capacity for study, streaming and gaming at the same time
“A heritage campus that runs like a new one is the whole point. St Georges College has one, and has for more than six years.”

New fibre through an old building, done properly.

cimply designed and delivered a full refresh across the college. New fibre was run to every separate building and wing, no small task in a campus built in the 1930s, and the equipment was replaced to the latest standard from the ground up. The result is gigabit internet that reaches every corner of the college.

On top of the network sits a custom support app, built so residents can raise a request and reach cimply directly rather than chase someone down a corridor. Today around 2,000 devices connect across the campus, carrying everything from the latest learning tools to 4K streaming and online gaming, and cimply has kept it fast and reliable for more than five years.

For St Georges College this is more than a network upgrade. It is a foundation that carries modern learning, everyday life and everything residents expect online, and one cimply will keep current for the next generation of students.
